Let the Countdown Begin!

Justin and I went to another doctor visit today.  I am almost 31 weeks! We cannot believe that it is already the "countdown" portion of this journey.  The baby's heartbeat is normal and she moves a lot!  That is always good. :)  Justin got to meet Dr. Garcia for the first time.  I have not seen her since I got pregnant.  Every time we go, we see another doctor so we can become familiar with all of them in the practice.  Justin liked Dr. Garcia the most and it was neat to show him what I really liked about her.  We are down to doctor appointments every two weeks.  WOW!

I am getting so excited about meeting her.  Feeling her move is the most amazing experience and I couldn't explain it to anyone that has not been pregnant.  It really makes you think of how amazing life is.  Enough about that, I will have pictures next post.  I am getting bigger!

We are getting closer!

I cannot believe that we are down to doctor appointments every two weeks! That means that we are getting closer to the birth of our baby girl. We cannot wait to meet her! We went to the doctor last week and everything checked out normal. My tummy measured 30 weeks instead of 28 (that is what I currently am) but the doctor said that it is totally normal to measure within two weeks of what you actually are. I interpreted it as we are having a big baby. Only time will tell! Justin weighed 9lbs.9 0z. and that is forever in the back of my head. To his defense, he was in the womb 4 weeks past his due date. :) So, maybe we can have a baby in between both our birth weights!

I finally found a white bumper and white flat-panel crib skirt. It took a month but I didn't give up and wound up finding one of each! The bumper is so cute with bows on the sides that tie around the bars. We are now waiting for her furniture so we can begin putting the nursery together! Kendall is in a big girl bed now so Kerri is bringing her crib mattress for the new baby to have.

Justin went back to the doctor about his shoulder. Unfortunately, the doctors on the day of surgery advised him wrong on how to wear his sling. So, he has been wearing it the wrong way for three weeks. But that has not gotten in the way his recovery. He will begin therapy soon.

Happy New Year!

We definitely want to start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. This year is going to be a big one for us and we are looking forward to it. We hope that it is a good year for all of you!

Not much has changed for us. Justin painted the nursery (I will post a picture when her furniture comes in) and it looks great! We love the color and cannot wait to get it all set up. We decided not to go crazy with her bathroom but are changing some things so that it looks "girly". It also gives her mommy an excuse to buy new things.

Justin has been nagged by a shoulder injury for several months and finally decided to have surgery to repair it. The procedure went well, but it has left him in a sling for the next several weeks. He is recovering quickly but getting a little irritated with only having the mobility of one arm. This whole surgery procedure was done to prepare him to hold the baby when she comes. He was experiencing a lot of pain so we decided to go through with it during the Christmas break.

Christmas was great. We traveled a lot but enjoyed every bit of it. Justin's parents are getting extremely excited about the baby as well as my parents. Both sets of parents are preparing. How fun! We will keep you posted with the progress we make concerning the baby.

New Years was fun as well! It was our first tame New Years party. When four of the five couples attending are either pregnant or already have a child, it kind of determines what type of extravaganza it will be. All in all, we ate a lot played a lot and celebrated a lot. We all had fun! We will make a point to check in soon! Enjoy the pictures!

Paint: Not Just for Huffing Anymore...

Justin here. This whole pregnancy thing has seemed very abstract to me. For instance, Kristin was pregnant, but didn't look pregnant. Then, she could feel the baby kick before I could feel. Another example: we registered at Babies-R-Us and I didn't know what any of this stuff was for. Clueless first-time dad, I guess.

However, I said from the beginning that I wanted to paint the nursery. That's one thing I feel like I have some control. I am pleased to report that after two days, the nursery is painted. I made a few boo-boos (a little paint on the ceiling never hurt anyone, right?), but for the most part, it went pretty smoothly. I took substantially longer than I expected due to the fact we have vaulted ceilings in the baby's room and three separate windows to tape around. So, shoddy painting not withstanding, the room looks great. We're very pleased with the color. Oscar's a little concerned about why he isn't allowed in the room this weekend and what that funky smell is, but he should be allowed back in soon.

Furniture is scheduled to arrive some time in February, so I'll post some pictures once we get the room completely set-up. I'm having shoulder surgery this week, so all of my projects are now officially on-hold until the New Year. TTFN.

Christmas is Coming!

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! What happens when the Christmas holiday comes, I get 10 days off! I am excited about this because I love spending time with family... and that is exactly what we are going to do.

Justin, Oscar and I got our picture taken with Santa on Sunday. I wasn't planning on using it for our Christmas cards but it came out decent and I don't look like a stuffed marshmallow in it so I couldn't resist. I was going to post it for all to see but then there would be no surprise in your mailboxes!

Justin is officially finished with his semester on Thursday evening. We are excited because he will then be able to focus some more attention on painting the nursery. It is such a pretty color. I can't wait for you all to see it. For those of you that are ordering furniture- be aware that it takes close to three months to deliver so plan accordingly. So, the nursery won't be complete until February, if not before. That is OK because it gives us extra time to get everything else situated.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving... I finally made it! I have been counting down the days to this break since the beginning of September. It kicks off the holiday season of family, friends and DAYS OFF! One of the joys of being a teacher...

Justin and I went to Maggie Valley with his family. It was great! The weather was pretty and a little warmer than I expected but it was still colder than Atlanta. We went into town with Justin's mom and sister-in-law to shop for Baby "C". She will be taken care of, clothes wise, until she is 2! Maybe not but it sure does seem like it!

We chose a color for her nursery. It is so pretty! The color is silver sage from Restoration Hardware so check it out if you get a chance. Justin and Jay will be painting the nursery next Friday so I will have some pictures when it is done.

Baby "C" is doing great. I feel her move in the morning when I am in the shower and she honestly doesn't stop until I lay down to go to sleep. I don't know what that means? I just hope she is a good sleeper... I guess we will see!
